How to Use Your Artisanal Incense

All Sirri Scents products are artisanal and crafted with care. We are committed to full traceability and transparency by clearly disclosing the ingredients used in each scent.

Use Proper Tools & Prefer Gentle Heat

Use charcoal that has already formed a layer of ash rather than red-hot charcoal. Gentle heat allows the fragrance to release slowly and evenly. Electric incense burners are also ideal, as they provide a soft, consistent diffusion. Excessive heat can alter the scent and damage its aromatic complexity.

Ensure Proper Ventilation

Burn incense in a well-ventilated space to prevent smoke buildup and maintain a pleasant, balanced atmosphere.

Use in Moderation

Avoid overuse and never leave incense unattended. Short, intentional burn times are enough to perfume a space without overwhelming it.

Our Incense-Making Process

At Sirri Scents, our incense is crafted using ancestral techniques passed down through generations. Each creation follows a slow, intentional process designed to preserve depth, balance, and authenticity.

STEP 1

Selection & Preparation of Raw Materials

Our incense is made from carefully selected natural ingredients, including aromatic woods, natural resins such as gum arabic, and traditional binders like sugar and fragrant oils.

Most West African artisanal incense is based on sandalwood. We primarily select high-quality sandalwood, sourced with care, known for its rich and long-lasting aroma. Each piece of wood is meticulously cleaned and prepared before use.

STEP 2

Infusion & Blending

The cleaned sandalwood chips are slowly macerated in carefully chosen fragrance oils for several days, allowing the scent to fully penetrate the wood.

A natural caramel made from sugar and lemon is then prepared over heat and blended with the infused wood chips. This mixture is enriched with various aromatic powders, including musk and precious perfume oils, creating the signature depth of our incense.

STEP 3

Fermentation & Maturation

Once blended, the incense is sealed and left to ferment for a minimum of 20 days. This crucial maturation phase allows the scents to harmonize and intensify naturally.

The final fragrance varies depending on:

The level of preparation and blending
The perfume oils selected
The length of the fermentation period

Longer fermentation results in deeper, more complex aromas.
